There are some moments in life you will never ever forget. The birth of all my babies will definitely be included in those moments. For some reason August 2nd 2017 seemed extra special. I don’t know if it’s because my girls got a brother, or because austin and I got to meet our son but it was an indescribable feeling welcoming him into the world.
Things started off normal with nesting in full swing! I had done at least 9 loads of laundry when I started experiencing really bad back pain. This is my first pregnancy that I had any braxton hicks contractions so I was thinking thats what was happening. Brushing it off it got later on in the evening and my back started hurting even more, I got in the tub to try and get things to relax but instead things kept getting more and more painful.
I called my dad like I always do when I get anxious or worried about anything. He said if you feel like you need to go get checked go. There isn’t any reason to take a chance. Where this was going to be my 3rd C-section I was a little anxious about things going well.
I ended up going to Labor and Delivery at 11:50 pm. They checked me saying I was at a 3 and 80% effaced. Lucky me my Dr. wasn’t on call and it was her day off. Not knowing how things worked midnight rolls around and I ask the nurse, ” OK so now its technically Wednesday, if they keep me here Dr. Mchulluch will be able to come in and deliver him right? NOPE! I was wrong, apparently when Dr’s check out they are off for a full 24 hrs. So if I wanted my Dr to deliver him I would have to wait until 7 AM.
They told me they were going to keep me their because they didn’t want me progressing and something go wrong so I had the choice of having little man then or waiting. Austin and I decided to wait because I ate at 9 and they wanted me to wait at least until 5 so my food could digest.
Luckily I made it through 7 hrs of contractions and Dr. Mchulluch walked in and they started prepping me for surgery. There is something about the O.R. that instantly makes me so nervous. The second I walked in my heart started racing and I started crying, don’t ask me why it just a nerve wracking thing. Luckily I had an amazing anesthesiologist who kept promising I wouldn’t feel anything and my hubby who I couldn’t have done it without.
Everything went great and Walker J. Terry was born at 7:56 AM on August 2nd 2017. Only a day earlier than expected! I was 100% sure he would be 10 pounds and I was pretty stinking close. When they pulled him out the Dr and nurses kept saying he is a BIG boy ha ha. He is absolutely perfect! From his giant hands, to his dimpled chin he was the little boy I had dreamt about for 4.5 yrs. My mini Austin Jared! I was instantly in love…
We are all so excited to have him in our family and I feel like the luckiest mama in the whole world! My girls are so obsessed and are the best helpers, Aust can’t wait to take him fishing and we are loving having a little more testosterone in the house.
Our birth story was done by my amazing friend and super talented photographer Kirstin. You can check out her work on her insta!
